Upon arrival at Kota Kemuning's McDonalds outlet, we were attended to by a cheerful Cik Mas, the outlet's Public Relations Officer. She briefed us on the safety dos and don'ts before taking us beyond the usual customer area. Into the warm kitchen we went and were introduced to the manager, kitchen and trainee staff.
We were all huddled into the huge cold fridge where various foods like drinks and sauces were stored. However, nothing prepared us for the freezer which was freezing cold where perishables like cheeses, meat and ice creams were kept. The children were chattering in cold while Mas was describing and showing us the various products used.
Until shown to us now, we were not very aware of different buns used for our burgers. Mas tested us and those who scored were promised ice creams later!
The drive-thru process and online order system was simply efficient as it links the order counter, cook and cashier simultaneously! The finale was the drinks and ice-cream dispenser where we were kindly treated to some 'samples'.
We were finally briefed on McDonalds employment opportunites and its various policies regarding food safety, quality and freshness.
After this insighful visit, we now view McDonalds not only just as another fast food joint but also a full fledge warm kitchen equipped with friendly staff serving safe and yummy food!
