The children were especially excited because they have never visited (read as 'known of') this museum before. There was this Historical Gallery which exhibited the 'hard' way of life of the ancient people and this truly gripped their attention. They were equally fascinated as they learnt of how simple rocks and sticks could be made into useful tools for hunting and cooking.
With their boundless enthusiasm, the children studied eagerly the various artifacts which spanned over three levels of the spacious building. Some of the other galleries which captivated them the most included the ones showing the arrival of the Chinese and Indians in Malaya to work in the tin mines and rubber estates respectively. The articles on the presence of the British and the success of independence were made more meaningful when illustrated in mock-up scenes.
Aaahh! This field trip to the museum has been fulfilling and it will be wonderful if the children can study their history lessons with more appreciation.
